Question about MODs (or rather which MODs are allowed) - frisch85 - 01-23-2012

So hey guys i was wondering if there would be any list of mods that are allowed on the server. For instance i know that the Inventory Tweaks MOD is allowed.

I was curious if Rei's Minimamp MOD was allowed. Also theres Cheetah MOD Pack and the wiki says its designed for multiplayer. Is that one allowed?

Generally any mod that doesn't provide an unfair advantage over those using a vanilla client is allowed. e.g. a minimap that showed just the map would be fine, whilst a minimap that had player tracking wouldn't.

Ok thanks Orcworm. I'll keep that in mind.

Are there going to be new mods?
as in player moderators

If it just shows terrain, thats ok, as orc said.
If it shows where other players are then its not ok.

I guess you should create another thread for this topic since this thread is about MODifications and not MODerators or maybe you could ask Orcworm just per pm.

Would a client that makees all blocks a high light level be OK? I know Orc uses something like that. Also, I'd like a link to such a mod :3

I think as long as it does not let you look through walls it is ok. i.e. a light colored texture pack should be fine. (e.g. Bright Craft)

It's prolly comparable to changing your gamma/brightness.

Using a mod that makes blocks brighter, for instance when you are in a cave, is not allowed. For an example, fullbright nods are not allowed. Brightly coloured texture packs are fine as they don't usually affect the lighting levels, just the textures.

That's where common sense applies. Does the standard vanilla client allow players to see everything at full brightness, thus negating torches?

Yup, put the contrast up all the way.

Yup, put the contrast up all the way.

Max contrast doesn't give you this kind of visibility:

Is that a yes or a no on the Mod?

Besides, for the longest time, I was able to see fairly well in dark areas. Until my PC auto-dimmed itself. Now I can't fix it or see in the dark :/

A no. Now get out.
